Our new audio program,“For a Child is Born to Us…” was recorded yesterday in a small recording studio in the Willow Glen neighborhood of San Jose, CA. This move to audio drama for QVTC is a practical one, for it requires no sets or costumes. The only “costumes” are the differing voices among the cast. Back in the days when Radio was king, this type of drama was common. This program is a nod to those days.
I had originally hoped to stage this script, but this idea was suggested to me by my mother, who has a great understanding of the power of audio media through her business experiences. Given this, it made better sense.
The actual seed for this idea came from one former board member, A.J. West, who is currently penning the “Wolves Among the Ruins” series of novels. He mentioned at one point that when he attended some of the Catholic theatre productions that roamed, there would be presentations in audio media at the tables, and many people would purchase these for listening in their car or at home.
“For a Child is Born to Us…” may pave the way for future vocal dramas. Many of the plays that we have done lend themselves quite well to audio adaptation. If this one is successful, we will do more.
There will be more on this in the future. Keep your eyes out!
